ACFIC vice chairman Xie Jingrong visited Belgium, Croatia and Serbia

Xie Jingrong, vice chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, led a visiting group to Belgium, Croatia and Serbia from May 26 to June 4, 2019.

The visit was aimed at encouraging Chinese private enterprises to join European market under the framework of the China - EU comprehensive strategic partnership and “17+1” China - Central and East Europe cooperation, which was also an action of carrying out Chinese President Xi Jinping’s remarks on the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

During the visit, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić met with Xie Jingrong, and exchanged on bilateral investment and trade. Chinese ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo attended the meeting.

Vučić said, Serbia was a trustworthy friend as solid as iron and they would support President Xi’s initiative of the Belt and Road construction by enhancing and developing bilateral ties with China.

He said that the economic cooperation between the two countries was of great potential. Chinese companies’ investment in Serbia had promoted local economic development and employment.

He hoped that future cooperation could be expanded to infrustructure construction, agriculture and medicare.

Xie Jingrong expressed appreciation to President Vučić for Serbian support on defending China’s core interest and the Belt and Road Initiative and reviewed the high-level visits by two countries and the solid friendship among the people.

He introduced ACFIC and said that they would promote Chinese private enterprises to invest in Serbia and promote people-to-people friendship.

During his visit in Belgrade, Xie also paid respects to the three Chinese diplomats killed in the bombing of our embassy in Yugoslavia in 1999.

The delegation also visited Flanders Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Belgium, Croatian Employers' Association and Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, during which Xie signed cooperation memorandum on behalf of the ACFIC with them respectively.

Xie also met with Belgian minister of foreign trade and development, state secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Enterprise and Handicrafts of Croatia, and Serbian assistant minister of Economy, to learn about the investment environment, preferential polices and industrial development plan of the three countries so as to explore cooperation channels and platforms for private enterprises.

During the visit, they also held meetings with Chinese-funded enterprises and overseas Chinese businessmen, inspected China-Belgium Science Park, Volvo Ghent assembly plant, Croatia Great Wall Trade City, Kunlun Trade City, Huawei Belgrade subsidiary, Serbia Belmac Logistics Park, and Bank of China branch in Serbia to look into Chinese enterprises’ operation, investment and problems while guiding them to be honest and abide by the laws and regulations in order to avoid risks.

They also met with Chinese mission to EU and Chinese embassies in Belgium, Croatia and Serbia.
